Après avoir maganisé au Archambault hier, je suis tombé sur un CD avec la mention "Copy Control" dessus. Voici ce que j'ai envoyé à Emi Music Canada:
"I think this is a multiple department email, so split the email to the departments.
The first thing I would like to say is that it is a pretty good idear to put some music on your front page. You should extend this to your hole website. Like this we could listen to the musique all along.
On another note, Canada has two official language. It would be nice to have a French version.
Now, for the matter. I whent to buy some CD the other day, and I looked at it and it says "Copy Control" on it with your label. Well, this is too bad, but I will not buy some music with a restrictive use. I want to listen on my Linux box, I want to burn it on a CD and listen to it in my car, I want all those things. The problem here is not really piracy. There are always pirates and always been and this is a small fraction of the sales losts. The problem here is availability. You are in a gas station. You want to drink some milk, now. You can buy it now for 1,50$ at the gas station or later in a grocery store for 0,50$. Witch is the fastest? Witch one is the most available? It is the gas station and the price is reasonable too. So, music related, witch one is the most available these days? It is on the Internet. Most people are not pirates, so they will buy the songs. Apple got that and they are at the top. The Cds as we know them will dissapear. They are so many more ways you can transfert music these days, that there are no way the CD industry will stay like that. In a couple of years, cars wont have any CD player, you will just transfert the songs from your computer to your car with the network. That can be the Internet with satellites. You are putting your energy and money at the wrong places hidden because of your ego. Too bad."
